Since its first issue in 2018, A Profound Waste of Time has pioneered a unique blend of long-form writing on videogames paired with specially commissioned artwork from the world’s leading illustrators.

Instead of focusing on industry news and game reviews, APWOT takes a more timeless approach, delivering in-depth explorations of the creativity, inspiration, obsessions, and conversations that make up the vibrant world of videogames.

APWOT was started by Caspian Whistler who turned a college passion project into games publishing’s beloved yearly publication.

Contributing to the magazine since Issue 3 as Editor-at-Large is Simon Parkin, author, journalist and host of the My Perfect Console podcast.

The magazine exists thanks to its dedicated audience who back new issues on Kickstarter every year. The project is extremely high-spec using premium materials and printing processes, all while having absolutely no adverts and remaining 100% self-owned and independent.

Thank you to everyone who makes A Profound Waste of Time possible.
